Salt Dough Leaf Prints

You'll Need

  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 cup table salt
  • Half a cup warm water
  • Real leaves with clear veins, at least 8 cm long
  • Rolling Pin
  • Flat baking tray for drying

Step by Step

  • An adult mixes two cups of flour, one cup of salt and half a cup of warm water into a smooth dough. Roll it out to one centimetre thickness on a floured surface.
  • The child places a leaf vein-side down on the dough and presses it firmly with both hands. An adult runs the rolling pin gently over the top once to deepen the impression.
  • The child peels the leaf away slowly from one corner to reveal the print. An adult cuts around the shape. Set flat on a tray to air dry overnight.
