Black card, A4, 250 gsm, one sheet per card (folded to A5)
Orange or white card, A6, one sheet per card (for the spider body)
Black marker, fine tip
Craft knife and cutting mat (adult use only)
Glue stick
Ruler and pencil
Step by Step
Fold the black card in half to A5. Open it flat, spine toward you. In the centre of the card, parallel to the fold, draw two cuts about 2 cm apart and 3 cm long, straddling the fold line. An adult uses a craft knife to cut cleanly along these lines.
Push the tab created by the two cuts upward and crease sharply at each end so the tab stands out from the card when it is opened. This is the pop-up platform.
Close the card and make sure the tab folds inward cleanly without catching. If it catches, the cuts need to be slightly longer at each end.
Cut a small round spider body from the orange card, about 3 cm diameter, and eight thin leg strips from black card. Glue the legs to the back of the body and draw a face on the front.
Glue the spider to the top face of the pop-up tab. When the card opens, the spider springs upward. Add a simple message with white marker on the inside front panel.
