Paper Plate Mummy

You'll Need

  • White paper plates, 22 cm, one per child
  • White crepe paper, one roll to share (each child needs about 1 m)
  • 2 large googly eyes, 25 mm, per child
  • PVA glue or a glue stick
  • Red marker or small red card triangle for the mouth

Step by Step

  • Tear or cut a strip of white crepe paper about 1 m long and about 4 cm wide. Wind it back and forth across the front of the paper plate in overlapping diagonal strips, leaving a gap in the centre for the face. Glue the end of the strip to the back of the plate.
  • Glue the two googly eyes side by side in the face gap. Press firmly and hold for thirty seconds.
  • Draw or stick a small red mouth below the eyes. A simple curved line or a tiny red triangle reads well from a distance.
  • If any crepe paper lifts at the edges, press a small dot of PVA underneath to secure it.
