White paper gift bags with flat bottom, one per child
Lime green washable poster paint, 20 ml per child
A flat sponge or foam brush for applying paint to the palm
Black card, one A5 sheet per child (for the hat)
a glue stick
Black fine-tip marker for drawing the face
A shallow tray or plate for the paint
Step by Step
An adult cuts a small pointed triangle from the black card (roughly 7 cm high) and a narrow strip for the hat brim (about 8 cm x 1.5 cm). Set aside.
Pour a little lime green paint into the tray and spread it into an even layer. The child presses their palm flat into the paint, making sure the full palm and all fingers are covered, then presses their painted hand firmly onto the lower half of one side of the bag. Lift straight up without sliding.
Leave the handprint to dry for at least fifteen minutes. The paint should be completely matte and no longer shiny before drawing on it.
Once dry, the child (or adult) draws two small dot eyes, two rosy circles for cheeks, and a curved smile on the palm area with the black marker. Keep the face simple: less is more here.
Glue the brim strip across the top of the handprint, just above the fingers, then glue the triangle hat above the brim at a slight angle for character.
An adult or older child can draw wavy black hair lines extending from between the fingers if a fuller witch look is wanted.
