Glitter Spiderweb on Black Card

You'll Need

  • Black card, A5 or A4, 250 gsm, one sheet per child
  • White PVA school glue in a fine-tip squeeze bottle, one per child or shared
  • Mixed craft glitter in at least 2 colours, 15 g per child
  • A sheet of scrap paper larger than the card, for catching loose glitter
  • A soft dry brush for sweeping excess glitter

Step by Step

  • Place the black card on the scrap paper. Squeeze a small dot of glue in the centre of the card, then draw straight lines of glue out from the dot toward each edge and corner, like spokes on a wheel. Aim for six to eight spokes.
  • Connect the spokes with curved lines of glue, working outward from the centre to make the web sections. The lines do not need to be perfect; slight wobbles look more natural. When done right, you should see a clear web shape before any glitter goes on.
  • While the glue is still wet, shake or sprinkle glitter generously over the whole web. Use one colour first, then a second colour over the centre for contrast. Press lightly with a fingertip to help the glitter stick.
  • Leave flat for a full hour. Do not try to rush this: lifting it before the glue skins over collapses the web lines.
  • Hold the card over the scrap paper and tip it gently to shake off the loose glitter. Use the soft brush to clear any glitter that has strayed onto the black background. Fold the scrap paper into a funnel and return the loose glitter to its pot.
