A shadow box frame, 20 x 20 cm, at least 4 cm deep
Dark velvet ribbon or black card to cover the backing board
One small white lace motif or a ghost shape cut from cream felt or organza, approx. 8 cm tall
Assorted tiny dried florals or paper stars, for scattering
Hot glue gun (adult use)
Craft glue or Mod Podge for the background covering
Optional: a few tiny iridescent sequins or glitter stars, for extra sparkle
Step by Step
Remove the backing board from the shadow box. Cover it in dark velvet ribbon (glued edge-to-edge with Mod Podge) or paint it with dark acrylic. Allow to dry completely before proceeding.
Cut your ghost shape from cream felt or organza, or use a pre-made lace motif. The ghost should be roughly centred on the backing and scaled so it fills about half the board's height.
Arrange the ghost and any dried flowers or star confetti on the backing board before gluing anything down. Step back and look at the composition from arm's length. Move elements until the arrangement feels balanced: ghost centred, florals clustered at the lower corners, small stars scattered in the background.
An adult uses the hot glue gun to fix the ghost in place, then the florals. Work from largest to smallest elements. A dot of glue on the back of each piece is enough; do not use too much or it will show through the organza or lace.
Scatter any sequins or glitter stars over the surface. A dot of Mod Podge on the backing holds them without a glue gun. Allow everything to dry for 20 minutes, then close the shadow box frame over the backing.
