Ghost Pipe Cleaner Finger Puppet

You'll Need

  • White pipe cleaners (chenille stems), one per puppet
  • Black permanent marker, fine tip
  • Small round-nose pliers (optional, for tighter coils)

Step by Step

  • Hold the pipe cleaner in the middle. Bend the two halves together so they run parallel, then fold the top 3 cm over to form a rounded loop: this is the ghost's head. The loop should be about 2 cm in diameter.
  • Twist the two strands below the head loop together for about 2 cm to form a neck, then split them apart and spread them outward like two arms, bending the tips of each arm into a small curl so they do not catch on anything.
  • Bring the two arm strands back together at the body level and twist them together for another 2 cm to form the body, then let the remaining length of the pipe cleaner hang free as a loose skirt or loop it into a ring that fits over a finger. Bending the lower loop to fit over the fingertip holds the puppet in place during play.
  • Use the black marker to draw two tiny eyes on the rounded head loop and a small curved mouth below. The faces will be small, but they read clearly at close puppet-show distance.
