Black card, A4, 160 gsm (each A4 sheet makes 4 bunting triangles)
White poster paint in a shallow tray
Black fine-tip marker pen

Twine or thin ribbon, measured to the desired length plus 30 cm at each end
Damp cloth for hand-cleaning between children
Step by Step
An adult cuts the black card into isoceles triangles about 10 cm wide at the base and 14 cm tall. Punch a hole in each of the two top corners. A batch of ten triangles from three A4 sheets makes a good length of bunting.
Pour white paint into a flat tray or jar lid. Each child presses their thumb into the paint and stamps it firmly onto the centre of a triangle, pressing and rocking slightly for full coverage. This is the ghost body. Wipe the thumb on the damp cloth before the next step.
Use a fingertip (index or little finger) to stamp two smaller prints, one on each side of the thumb print, angled slightly outward: these are the ghost arms, giving a raised-hands silhouette that reads immediately as a Halloween ghost.
Leave the prints to dry for 15 minutes. Use the black marker to add two small oval eyes and a little round mouth to each ghost. Children can do this themselves once the paint is dry.
Thread the twine through the holes in each triangle, spacing them about 2 cm apart along the twine. Knot the twine just outside each hole to keep the triangles from sliding. Hang by the excess twine at each end.
