Coffee Filter Ghost Garland

You'll Need

  • 12 large basket coffee filters (white, cone or flat-bottom style)
  • Black marker, fine tip
  • 2 m of white or cream string or twine
  • a hole punch
  • A small amount of polyfill or tissue paper, one ball per ghost (for the head)

Step by Step

  • Crumple a small ball of tissue paper or polyfill about the size of a large marble. Place it in the centre of a coffee filter and gather the filter around it, twisting the filter below the ball to form a round head with a ruffled skirt below.
  • Draw two oval eyes and a small open mouth on the rounded head with the black marker. Keep the face simple; a shocked O-mouth expression is easier to draw than a smile and looks very effective.
  • Punch a small hole through the gathered twist at the top of the head. Thread the string through the hole, spacing the ghosts about 15 cm apart along the string.
  • Repeat for all twelve filters, threading them onto the string as you go. Tie a loop at each end of the string for hanging.
