Cauldron Pencil Pot

You'll Need

  • A clean empty tin can, 400 g size, one per child
  • Black card, A4, one sheet per can
  • Purple or green glitter card, a strip 3 cm x the circumference of the can (measure before cutting)
  • Glue stick and PVA glue
  • Scissors
  • Black marker

Step by Step

  • An adult checks the can for sharp edges and files any down, or covers the rim with a strip of masking tape. Measure the height and circumference of the can.
  • Cut a rectangle of black card to fit exactly around the can. Wrap it around the can and glue the overlapping seam with PVA. Hold for thirty seconds until set.
  • Measure and cut the glitter card strip to fit around the top of the can. Glue it in place with PVA so it sits like a rim.
  • Cut two small D-shaped handles from black card offcuts, each about 4 cm across. Glue one to each side of the can with PVA, pressing for one minute each.
  • Once dry, draw three small green bubbles on the front of the cauldron with a green marker for the potion effect. Fill with pencils or wrapped sweets.
