1 bag (approximately 100 pieces) black craft feathers in mixed sizes
2 m natural twine
A hot glue gun and glue sticks

Step by Step
Lay the twine along a flat surface. Start at one end and apply a small dot of hot glue (adult step) to the quill of three or four feathers, pressing them onto the twine with quills pointing toward the centre and plumes fanning outward. Hold each one for ten seconds until the glue sets. Overlap the next group so the quills are hidden under the plumes of the previous one.
After every three or four groups, rotate the feathers so they point in the opposite direction, left to right or right to left. This alternation creates a symmetrical fullness along the garland rather than everything pointing the same way. Keep the groups tight enough that no bare twine shows through.
Leave 15 cm of bare twine at each end for hanging loops. Knot each end securely. Once the glue is cool, pull away any stray glue strings by hand. The finished garland should be full enough to hold its shape when lifted.
