Seven Layer Dip

Prep Time 25 minutes
Total Time 55 minutes
Makes 20 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 16-ounce cans refried beans
  • 1 1-ounce packet taco seasoning
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups guacamole store-bought or homemade
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 2 cups diced tomato
  • 1 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onion
  • Tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

  • Stir the taco seasoning into the refried beans and spread the mixture evenly across the bottom of a large glass dish or trifle bowl.
  • Spread the sour cream in an even layer over the beans.
  • Spoon the guacamole over the sour cream and smooth it out with the back of a spoon.
  • Scatter the shredded cheese evenly over the guacamole.
  • Top with the diced tomato, spreading it to the edges of the dish.
  • Finish with the black olives and green onion scattered over the very top.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, until all the layers are cold and hold together when scooped.
  • Serve chilled, straight from the dish, with a wide bowl of tortilla chips alongside.

Good to Know

Use a clear glass dish so the layers show through the side; it is the cheapest way to make a dip look deliberately built rather than thrown together.
