Haunted House Silhouette Bag

You'll Need

  • 1 kraft lunch bag per bag
  • Black card, A4, 200 gsm, 1 sheet for every 2 bags
  • Yellow card, A4, 200 gsm, 1 sheet for every 8 bags
  • Craft knife and cutting mat (adult use)
  • Craft glue or strong glue stick
  • White gel pen, optional, for stars
  • Pencil and ruler

Step by Step

  • Sketch the haunted house template on black card in pencil. The house should fit within a 10 x 12 cm rectangle: a main rectangle body, a triangular roof with a crooked chimney at one end, two small window squares and an arched door. Keep all shapes chunky: thin details snap when cut.
  • An adult cuts the silhouette with the craft knife on the cutting mat. Cut the outer profile first, then cut out the window and door openings from inside the silhouette. Go slowly at the chimney: it is the trickiest part.
  • Cut a circle from yellow card, about 5 cm in diameter, for the moon. This is the only element that needs scissors and is suitable for children.
  • Glue the yellow moon circle to the bag front, slightly off-centre and toward the upper right. Let it dry for a minute before placing the house on top.
  • Glue the black house silhouette centred over the lower two-thirds of the bag front, overlapping the moon so the moon appears to sit behind the roofline. Press firmly and let dry for ten minutes.
  • Use the white gel pen to dot a few stars in the upper corners of the bag front around the moon, if you want. Very simple, very effective.
