An adult cuts the egg carton into individual cups and cuts wing shapes from black paper: two curved triangles joined at the centre, roughly 8 centimetres wide total. Each child takes one cup and paints it black all over, including inside if they like. Set cups upside-down to dry for at least 30 minutes.
Once dry, the child runs a line of PVA glue along the straight edge of the wing piece and presses it against the flat back of the cup, holding for 30 seconds. The wing should extend evenly either side of the cup when viewed from the front.
Dab two spots of glue on the front of the cup and press googly eyes in place. Hold for 20 seconds. Once set, thread a short piece of string through a small hole poked in the top of the cup by an adult and knot it to hang the bat.
