How to Play
Divide your players into teams of two to six (solo works great too, tbh). A host reads one question at a time from each round’s question sheet — no peeking at the answer key! Teams write their answers on a scrap of paper or a simple score sheet, then the host reads out answers from the answer key after each round and teams swap papers to mark each other’s scores. Award one point per correct answer, tally up after all six rounds, and crown the team with the highest score your official Music Trivia Champion. To keep things moving, give teams thirty seconds per question and use a phone timer — trust me, it stops the endless deliberating. Print the question sheets on sturdy cardstock, laminate them so they survive spilled drinks, and keep them neatly together with a binder ring or tucked into a small tin between game nights.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many questions are in this music trivia set?
There are exactly 120 music trivia questions, split evenly across six rounds of 20 questions each — covering the 1960s and 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s, the 2000s, song descriptions, and general artist and band knowledge.
How many players or teams do you need to play?
Music trivia works with as few as two players going head-to-head or as many teams as you can fit around a table. Teams of two to five work best — big enough that someone on the team knows the answer, small enough that everyone stays engaged.
How do I print the question sheets and answer keys?
Print each sheet on plain paper or, better yet, cardstock for durability. For a long-lasting set, run the printed sheets through a laminator with standard A4 pouches so spilled drinks won’t ruin game night. Keep the sheets sorted by round using a binder ring or store them flat inside a small tin between games.
Is this music trivia appropriate for all ages?
Yes — all 120 questions are PG-13 and focus on music facts, artists, albums, and song themes. Nothing here is inappropriate for teens or adults. Younger kids may find some decades rounds tough, but the artists and bands round and the song descriptions round are great for a broad age range.
Can I use these questions for a pub quiz or work event?
Absolutely! These music trivia questions are written for a mixed audience, so they work brilliantly for pub quizzes, office parties, family gatherings, birthday parties, or any event where you want a fun, inclusive activity. Just print a question sheet per team and keep the answer key with the host.
Do I need any special equipment to host music trivia night?
All you really need is a printed question sheet per team, an answer key for the host, pens or pencils for teams to write answers, and a phone timer to keep rounds moving. Optionally, a Bluetooth speaker playing era-appropriate background music between rounds adds a really fun atmosphere!
